A feline is any of 37 cat species that among others include the cheetah, puma, jaguar, leopard, lion, lynx, tiger, and domestic cat. Cats are native to almost every region on Earth, with the exception of Australia and Antarctica. According to www.hillspet.com, different cat registries follow different criteria in classifying a breed. Therefore, depending on where you look, there could be as few as 15 breeds or as many as 75 breeds of domestic cats. Traditionally, cats are kept on a farm to control the rodent population. The Sanctuary currently has nine cats in our care, one of which, Carly, is looking for her forever home. The other cats are Sire, Jack, Buttons, Hazel, Mia, Star, Hunter, and Katie.

According to theSpucePets.com, cats are pack animals, and they want to share their bounty with their family. This is especially true of female cats who would normally teach their young how to hunt and eat. This means when a cat brings you an animal they caught, be it alive or dead, they consider you a part of their family. Their instincts are telling them this is what they need to do to survive and that they need to pass these important, life-saving skills onto their family.
Cats groom themselves and ingest small amounts of hair that usually pass through their digestive system. However, hair can become tangled and form a hairball, or trichobezoar, if it's too large to pass through the intestines. Cats may also regurgitate hairballs if they're too big to pass through the esophagus. Some cats may poop out hairballs, but it's more common for them to vomit them up.
